Joseph Olaitan Adenuga Jr, AKA Skepta born on 19, September 1982 to Mr. Joseph Adenuga and Mrs. Ify Adenuga (both Nigerian parents) in Tottenham, North London. When he was 3 years old, he moved from Lagos to London with his parents who were in search of greener pastures. He is the eldest of his siblings, of which one of his brothers Jimmie Adenuga is also a musician. The name “Skepta” originated from the word Sceptre, (a word for magicians). Because of how it was spelled, he didn’t like it so he decided to change it in a unique way, which he changed to Skepta. he attended Winchmore School in London.

He is a producer and DJ in the North London Grime scene, including Roll Deep and Boy Better Know. Skepta’s interest in music began at a young age. He started as a DJ in the grime collective Meridian Crew in the early 2000s. He released his first album, “Greatest Hits,” in 2007.
